A feast of seasonal, sporting and charitable fun at the Exchange Café on Friday; the Gracie family cake-stall raised a splendid £23.90 for Children in Need, there was some terrific creativity in evidence in the Autumn Crown-making with Miriam Layton, and children really got into the ‘swing’ of things with the indoor golf sessions – an enormous target adorned one end of the hall, and there were several putting mats to add to the fun.
Well done to the Gracies for their fund-raising towards a very worthy cause, and to Miriam for her seasonal creativity.

A big “THANK YOU!!” to everyone who came along last Friday to the Supper Club. Thank you all for pitching in to help set up, dish up and clear up, especially to Jo. It made it a very easy event to host and we will definitely do it again.
What about a nature trail walk-and-lunch event at the weekend? It might be a nice thing to do in the Spring? Any other ideas?
Banish those January Blues with a visit to the Exchange Café as it launches tomorrow at 3pm!
Drop in for some refreshments, bring a boardgame to donate to the Café if you can; bring all those unwanted books / school uniform items / games for sale or exchange, sign up to receive the Hernhill Forum e-newsletter by e-mail, and also for the Saturday Singing Workshop next month.
Local mezzo-soprano and singing teacher Michelle Harris will be holding the first of two singing workshops for the local children at Hernhill on Saturday 19 February, from 11.20 am – 12.50pm, at a cost of £3, and will include a range of music from popular tunes to folk songs. No experience necessary, just a willingness to get involved!
The session will also include a drink, snack and a short break.
Results of the children’s fun-filled efforts be included in the Hernhill Merry-Makers’ event which is being planned as well.
Children from six and above welcomed, although if your child is younger, contact Michelle.
If you are interested in bringing your child(ren) along on a Saturday morning to the DCA, there’ll be a sign-up sheet at the Exchange Café this Friday: make sure you add your name and email address to the list, and Michelle will be in touch shortly with all the details!
Details about a forthcoming dance workshop, to be run on the same basis by Fiona Wilkinson, to follow. Families will need to be a member of the DCA to participate in the workshops for insurance reasons: you can join on the day for an annual £10 fee.
Michelle would welcome some help at the session from any musically-minded parents who might like to stay and join in, or just serve the snacks….!
