Free e-books online: the Oxford Owl Library

If you’re looking to develop your child’s reading abilities and need an on-line library, then the Oxford Owl Library might just be what you’re looking for.

Oxford Owl LibraryA veritable treasure-trove of interactive books that can be read on-line – including a life-like page-turning interface – content can be browsed by appropriate reading-age. There are over one hundred e-Book titles to view across all the age-ranges  (as opposed to the option to purchase a printed book), each book having an audio option (which can be turned on and off) which reads the text aloud. Reading ages are from 3-4 up to 6-7+.

There’s also a wealth of games and activities in the ‘Kids Barn‘ section, and a guide to understanding, and assisting your child with, their reading development at school.

If your child is interested in using computers, then this is a useful way of harnessing their IT usage to engage them with reading activities and games to develop their literacy skills.
